Are there any medium sized West African cichlid species with relatively mild dispositions that would be able to co-exist peacefully with a juvenile Oscar? Preferably those which originate in rivers with soft, acidic water? Thanks in advance.

I am planning to have an oscar with red forest jewels and a female polleni (both soft acidic african riverine). Heard that the polleni can be a bit aggro though. Male pollenis are psychopaths.

I've kept jewels with oscars, but it's going to depend on the individual fish whether they'll get along.
+1

I know people that have kept Oscars and Buttekofferi together also. My Buttekofferi was with different stuff though, a handful about 10 Mbuna, a Red Devil, and a few small female FHs (I needed someplace to split them up) and a few catfish
