mugatu's

i think that's how it's spelled but i may be thinking of some thing completly different.(i seem to be doing this lately) why do you want to know?

lmao if you are doing pound for pound, definetely lamp compressiceps

but if not, emperor cichlid's definetely take the cake

Comps and Boulengerochromis microlepis aren't really aggressive. They're defensive. The size of a B. microlepis doesn't make it any more aggressive than a Cyp. It just so happens that more can fit it its huge mouth and can defend itself much more efficiently against competitors.
Some Neolamprologus and Lepidiolamroplogus sp. would get my vote. L. sp. Nkambae are hard to pair off cause they're just so aggressive toward one another. L. boulengeri, the smallest in the genus, is a mini-beast at 3", comes complete with teeth and a napoleon complex.
Some of the brichardi complex Neolamps make up for their dainty looks with nasty dispositions while spawning, becoming outright homocidal and able to take over entire communities housed in 100 or more gallon tanks. Not bad for a "fairy" fish that doesn't get more than 6".
Telmat. dhonti also seems to never be satisfied with the room it has, always seems to want more and has no problem fighting for what it wants.

Some of the biggest mbuna attitudes come in the smallest packages. As mentioned, P. demasoni is a pretty tough customer, but it tends to focus it's aggression toward conspecifics.

Out of all, I'd have to cast my vote for Tilapia buttikoferi. A big, notoriously unfriendly bruiser. While they can be kept with other fish, in average aquaria it is the Midas of African cichlids.
