ok i have a nice sized african clawed frog i want to move out of his 10g into a 175g bow planted tank(not set up yet but its sitting in my living room as we speak(type) my questions are

1) what is the max water depth for an african clawed frog for him to beable to reach the surface to breath easily?

2) what fish are safe for the frog and the fish both?

fish iam considering for the tank are as follows

a) a multidue of live beares such as guppies, mollies, swordtails, platties yes i know the frog will consume the babies heck he eats a 1/2 table shrimp or more a day now (chopped up into pieces)

b) black ghost or elephant nose (yes i know they will eat babies of the live beares)

c) cory cats

d) rainbow or red tail shark(yes i know the live bearer babies will be eaten)

e) angel fish or 2( yes i understand the live bearer babies will be eatten)

3) any specific plants i should avoid?

4) any specific plants i should have for the frog?

iam a saltwater guy who has about 600g of saltwater in the house between FOWLR (preditor) tanks and areef tank and want something completely diffrent than and i already have the frog and want to enrich his enviorment

thanks for any advice on the frog..(i have a seperate thread on the planted tank in the planted tank forum)

The frog is going to be able to eventually eat most of the frogs you had listed.

As for max water depy I dont think there really is one. He should be fine in a bigger tank.

I can not help much on plants though. The frog is going to dig up a destroy a good big of them regardless. I personally would not risk the fish and just get him his own tank. IMHO

Any pics?

Thanks for the reply its no problem setting up a tank for mr/miss jumpy just thought i might incorp the frog into the big set up..i dont have a shortage of tanks in the 20-55g range sitting in the shed

ill try to post some pics of the frog in his current setup late tonight or in the am the camera is in the wifes auto at work.....
