ok i want to get an african clawed frog but the problem is it will have to be in a 40 gallon tank with 3x 3" clowns
i saw them on TFD and i was going to get the medium albino, how many could i keep in the tank (good filtration) with the three clowns
thanks for the help!

Clown loaches? Sorry but if they are clown loaches (Blackdirtysocks is so gona get me for this:D) not only are they incopatible with the frogs (due to agression and huge final size) but also the tank is already largely overstocked and your gonna need very soon a much larger one for them. Putting the clowns aside your going to have a 40 gallon in wich you can confortably keep a copple of these cool frogs.

Yeah the clowns will outgrow, which I'm sure you know. It 10 gallons per frog so 4 adults will love that tank to death.Maybe even 5 if it's a 40 breeder. I have no experience with clowns though, so don't know if they will get bother or injure the ACF's.

I hate to be the bearer of bad news. Xenopus laevis are an invasive species in AZ and, therefore, illegal to sell, possess, or transport in that state. They're also illegal in NJ, DC, VA, NV, CA, and UT. There may be other states. I can only remember these right now.

I beleave they were notorious from taking other fish eyes:confused: But they shure have a small but very sharp spike under their eye

Geez I knew they were invasive and ate other native small frogs and smaller fish but all of them states. Wow. I'm glad Ohio doesn't have them banned, I would be very sad.:(

They do have spikes under their eyes to avoid predation, by that is merely defense
They have been known to eat eyes but mine have nevr bothered any tankmates
