I just picked up this catfish and am looking for any info on it

I've got one, had it about 2 years now, it's roughly 6.5" long. Keep them fed as they will eat the slime coat off of slow moving / bottom dwelling fish.

They are fun fish to have and make a great clean up crew for bigger fish like Oscars and other cichlids.

I have always had some, they are great scavengers and keep the floor nice and clean. i find keeping two or three together works well for me.

be careful of their dorsel and pectoral spines because if it pokes you it will hurt like hell.

when we catch synodontis sp in africa we consider them a menace becaise you have to be so careful taking them off the hook.

it is cool looking and the bigger they get the better they look. offer some caves or logs to hide under. mine love swimming in and around my rock stacks for my malawis.

I have four upside down catfish (Synodontis nigriventris) in my planted tank. They are similar to yours, but from what I've heard they are less aggressive. Mine eat whatever I put into the tank, which is sinking pellets and bloodworms (the tiny bright-red worms that can be bought in frozen bars).

What are you feeding yours?

just algea wafers and floating pellets only had him about a week still trying to find some more info about him

offer worms(earthworms or frozen blood worms, freeze dried krill, algae wafers and ghost shrimp for a live treat. they are natural scavengers so will almost eat anything. The above foods as for most fish will do them good.

I keep mine in a 125g mbuna tank. Its cool how its look evolves as it grows.Kind of leopard pattern when small and spotted adult
