Early this week I purchased a helmeted turtle on implies due to it being at a much lower price than I usually see them at shows and stuff and I've wanted one since I've seen them. I have her in a temporary quarantine setup with a simple sock filter and stuff just to see if she's doing ok because from what I understand most of them are imported straight from Africa. So far she seems healthy, will eat anything insight, always begging, and was eat straw berry straight from my hand.
Now I'm curious as to other peoples experiences with this species and what their setups for them are like. Also how are they with fish for the most part, I know some care sheets say they eat fish and I've seen videos on YouTube with people keeping them with fish. The reason I ask is because I think I'd be cool to setup and African biotope riparium with some cichlids or other African fish as these guys don't get as large are most turtles and could probably work in something like that.
