African or South American cichlids?

Hello, I got a 75 gallon tank recently and I had my heart set on cichlids, but I don't know if I want Africans of South Americans. Which type of cichlids do you guys think I should get?

It depends on the water in your area. If you have high pH mineral rich water, African rift lake, or Central American cichlids( although your tank is too small for most Centrals) would work.
If the water in your area is soft with a low pH and low TDS, there are some South American cichlids that would fit the bill.
