I have a odoe pike and a AFT in a 70 gallon glass tank with no backing and I notice that they are both swimming in figure 8's, with their noses touching the back glass. Back and forth frantically. The only thing I can think of is maybe they are seeing a reflection from the glass because if I move or turn off the lights they stop doing it. Does this sound right? Thanks.

That could be it or they think they can swim away through the glass, try putting up some backing, just brown paper to see if they stop. if they do then find a backing you like.

Check for mineral deposits on your tank rim, light fixture, and switch. There could be a short sending current into your tank and driving your fish nuts. Of course, when the light is turned off, they'll normalize since the current flow would be stopped.
