alright ive been to 3 of my lfs latly and all 3 have had african pike fish ive never seen them before reciently, they look alot like african tiger fish, are they aggressive can i house them with cichlids, arowanna? how large? thanks i think i want one or may depending on what i find out about them lol

there aggressive and might pick on the cichlids dipending on size, but cichlids are normaly hardy so you might be ok. having plants and caves and stuff in there might help so they can run and hid from the pike if he starts getting too ruff, since the pikes normaly sit in open water. arowanna would be fine, but for size go on youtube. google will tell you sizes but isnt right all the time so its best on youtube and seeing the people that have the fish themselfs.

I had a pike in with my cichlids and my arowanna did just fine unfortunately he got sick and recently died but was a awesome fish to have and was a really good eater lol

Are they normally inactive? The ones I seen were moving a little but that why I hate far bc the just sit there

Thanks for the quick responses btw

Lol hard to say for me I had two and one was active and the other hid almost all the time but they were in two different tanks and the active one didn't have much to hide in and the other had a bunch of hiding spots but I liked it

Mine scares me. he is 15"+ and very colorful but the most attentive fish I've ever seen. he watches me from over 20' away and he's the one i watch when cleaning my tank. not as big or aggressive as ATF but very cool fish. mine is so fast when i throw in feeder fish if he half misses it will cut a 4" feeder clear in half before you can see what happened
