Has anyone kept these before? I was interested in getting one for my 150 gallon tank.

Reference: http://www.fishbase.org/Summary/SpeciesSummary.php?id=4530

Suitable tankmates that I have include two Bichirs and a Datnoid. The fish I am worried about housing it with are my Spotted Pike Characin and my Johanna Pike Cichlid.

The latter two are about the same size, with the African Pike maybe smaller than them by an inch or so.

Do you think it would work? Any information or opinions would help. Thanks!

yep...you can barely see the ven. pike in the first pic but its at the bottom. These were in the same tank together forever...never a problem.

I love these fish but had to give mine away...it kept attacking my Snakehead and Bichirs, especially when they went up for air. Its acase of suck it and see-you may get lucky or not

I suppose I need to just make the choice, then. I'd hate to see my Delhezi's hurt, but my tank could really use a mid to top-level swimmer.

ur lucky, my ven beats up on everything. on the other hand the odoe's are as easy going as tarpon.

I had my odoe in with a pair of ornate bichirs, Indo Dat, tinfoils and balas. The only thing the odoe took exception to was the bala sharks, maybe due to slender/similar'ish shape. Everything else was fine. That would be the main potential issue with your tank mates, ones with similar shape/size/colour.

It's the individual, seen one that killed everything from jardini, paroon, dat but then mellowed out and got along with everything. Just remember to keep all openings covered.
