Hey, the other day I had an emergency post about my Pike (Dennis) that had gotten out of my tank while I was gone. I came home and found him half-dried up on the floor next to my Rena xp4. I thought he was dead, and was about to proceed to freeze him when I decided I'd put him in the water for good measure. After about five seconds he started breathing. Slowly.
He could not swim at all, I thought he was paralyzed. So to keep him from going upside-down and dying, I held onto him loosely just to keep him stable. After about 15 minutes of keeping him from going upside-down, I decided to put him in between the blades of a fake plant that would keep him from turning upside down.
I thought he was permanently paralyzed, and would never move again and probably die soon. I checked up on him every 30 minutes, he went from not being able to move the slightest bit, do being able to correct himself from turning upside down.
I woke up this morning and he was swimming like normal again! I was so happy and excited that my pike was brought back from the brink of death. I'm glad I got home to save him when I did.
This is him now: (He's got some cuts from jumping out, but I expect him to heal.)
