My girlfriend and I just cycled another 55 and we're looking at making a african river biotope. We're looking to do something a little different than the usual amazon theme. We're looking at getting 2-3 polyps...maybe some african brown knives...

Need some more suggestions on stocking the tank. What do you all think?

tank particulars:

55 gallon
eheim 7060
4 65watt coralife lights
ecocomplete sand substrate

Thanks.

I'd say a couple of the smaller bichirs, Delhezi's or Polli's for sure, a few Ctenopoma, some large Congo Tetras and an African Knife would work well for an African tank (I have a smiliar setup currently in a 75). As far as plants go I'm not sure on what would work.

Yes...definatly post some pics...I love river theamed tanks. I'm thinking of turning our 240 into one as soon as it's set up.

Thanks for the great info.

beblondie's post came from a 3 page long sticky all about african biotopes if you're interested it has everything and it is located under the polypterus section. I think the african swamp idea sounds really unique.

Anyone out there have a couple of pics of their african biotope tanks? Might be good for some inspiration, I think there's a few of us here that are interested.
