african ropefish whiskers

Today i bought a ropefish to go along with my infant fire eel and medium lepronis. However at the store the ropefish jumped on the floor and i had to pick him up. As he's sitting in his new tank i notice one of his whiskers is missing and theres a small red gash. I put a few drops of melafix to stop any infections. However will the whisker grow back?

update. He got Ich but i cured it in my quarantine tank. now he's back with the others. he is still missing a whisker though. looks sort of like a scab.
anyone have any info?

was the missing whisker after you left him in the tank for awhile or before you placed him in? may have been the lepronis that took a nip at him
