ok i plan on setting up an africanish style to my 60gallon tank.so far i am ging to have these guys in there for life.

1-sengal
1-delhezi
1-african knife
1-jd
6-congo tetras
1-pictus catfish

any other suggestions?its hard for me since its my first tank

I agree. Lose the Pictus and JD. A group of Ctenopoma and Congo Tetras would look great. However, Ctenopomas grow slow and the Bichirs would probably make a snack of them. My friend actually had a couple of Albino Sens that ate some of his Congo Tetras because they grew pretty quickly.

Sounds like a fun tank!! Here's another testament to the Ctenopomas (we have 3 acutiristre). You might also want to think about some other synodontis species - perhaps upside down cats? They are slow growers, so you'd either have to find them at a good size or wait for them to grow or they'll be food. I'm also a huge fan of the African Butterfly fish if you want to think about a top-dweller. Good luck!!!

Ctenopomas are slow growers but my bichir doesn't even look at my smallest Cten which is around 2" and my bichir is around 7-8".

I agree, if you are going to put a del in there, look for a captive bred one, specifically one that has maxed out at a smaller than normal size.

Preferably look for a member selling one they've kept for a year or so that hasn't passed 10"

Remove the congo tetra. I've a fully grown congo tetra that got snatched by a 6" albino senegal bichir. It got death rolled. Although it's fun to see a death roll, but all the guts comming out from the tetra is insane. It got brutaly murdered!

Hi,for a 60 gallon tank I would nt add any more fishes,considering the size your fishes will get once mature.
