African tiger fish questions

Okay guys! I am new to these African tiger fish and can use some help. I know they require a large tank and eventually he will be moved. But for now, I'm working with what I got.

I just bought myself a African tiger fish and I can tell it's very skittish. It has banged into the walls idk how many times in the last 5 minutes lol hopefully he doesn't die do to that.

My question is, is it necessary to put a water fan or a circulation fan into the tank for him? How can I reduce him being so skittish? Also, how long will it take for him to grow to at least 6" with feeder fish as main diet? I'm trying to grow him to a bigger size before putting him in my bigger tank.

Several people use heavy current to keep tigers occupied if they are in small tanks. I've never used that approach myself. What type of atf do you have? I've found they grow rather quickly at least at first. I've had my vatf for 7 months and it has gone from 5" to 13" in that time. The gatf I kept grew even faster. Post up a pic of your guy

I love the high current with my Tanzy. It has really kept him from smashing into the walls. I believe I have around 5500-6000 GPH of current for my 120 grow out. and he rarely ever smashes into the walls.

I just placed an order for 2 3200 gph and 1 1300gph on eBay. Getting it next week. Best to have the 2 strong on top and the one weaker on the bottom end on the other side?

Oh nice, I'm pretty sure on the atf sticky. But you kinda set up a circuit of water so it circulates around. And I try to arrange it so there are some areas with stronger and weaker current zones if that makes sense.
