Hi everyone,
So I have 2 african tiger pike, both of them about 5 inches in a 125. I've had them for a while like this and one of them is slightly bigger and dominant over the other. The dominant one has just started beating up on the other, like bloody tail and back part. I can't separate them, so would it help if I got a third like in most other types of schooling fish to disperse the aggression? Suggestions? Thanks

I made the same mistake with my odoes. I was able to separate them, but the smaller one still ended up dying.

I've read that these guys are best kept in groups of 3 or more to spread out the aggression, but I haven't practiced it myself. As it stands, I have one 8", aggressive Odoe who is holding his own with my 18" silver aro. Good luck with your guys, I hope they both pull through.

I would sell or get rid of the other odoe. A group of them in a big tank with dithers night be the only option after that.

How amazing would 5 of these things look in a tank? I've never seen that many kept together.

If you have the loot for a small school, go or it. If not, sell the smaller one and power feed the dominant one. These things look AWESOME when they get bigger!

O.Pikes can be quite aggressive, so be careful!
I personally think getting more is not the best idea, sure it may spread the aggression but probably won't help the one that is already injured.
I have one at around 13-14inch (rough estimate) he's really thick and fights with my gold aro which is bigger than him, injuries both sides.

Do you guys know anywhere where I could get two or three more? Any good fish dealers you know of?

There's a few dealers that have them for sale right now at decent prices. Aquascape comes to mind.

Good luck hoss, these things can be vicious! I hope it works out for you, a tank full of these monsters would be one of the more impressive tanks on the site IMO.

Agreed.I have a five incher that used to mind his own business untill I added a jardini of equal size. The odoe seems to have taken offense at the jardini being in the tank and has tried to de fin the jar.....

Odoe vs Jar... That's like a climatic fight from the end of an action movie. Sucks they don't get along, but it must be something to watch!
