i heard today that African Cichlids can live in brackish water is this true? if so does it help them at all? i know they like the water being slightly more alkaline than most but this is the first iv heard about brackish. to tell the truth i wouldn't have even thought that brackish and Africans should have ever been in the same sentence lol

I don't think any of the Rift Lake african cichlids can live in brackish environments. None of the major Rift Lakes which these fish originate from are brackish.

Not sure about the riverine african cichlids from west Africa though.

ok thank you guys the reason i asked was i had a snail problem and i thought about making the water super salty(brackish) but i went and bought two green spotted puffers (which are brackish lol) and they took care of them and now that i dont need them any more i can give them to my sis she thinks there cute i dont see it but to each there own lol
