I was working on the 500g the other day, had the back corner lid panel off to get at an overflow. I normally keep the lid weighted down. I left the room to do something for about two minutes, came back and my 17" african arowana was on the floor.

He is not hyper/spastic, I never hear him banging the lid when I am in the fish room. So did he realize that something was different above the water and make a jump for it, or was it just coincidental that right when I walk away he goes wild in the only uncovered part of the tank?

Makes you wonder...

(The afro is fine by the way. I grabbed him and tossed him back in, and this was about a week ago now.)

fish have great instincts. his told him to bolt when you had your back turned lol

Haha, well there are no greener pastures for him outside the tank, nor wetter waters... maybe his instincts will tell him that a four foot drop to a dry carpet next to a dehumidifer is not exactly a vacation...

I can respect that. Act now, ask later. Maybe my fish and I are not so different. :D

madding when are you going to post new pics of that tank? havent seen anything new for a couple days.

I'll try to get some this weekend. I've been lazy, mostly just going down to feed. My 10" jade goby died this week so I'm feeling sort of blah towards my murderous, blood-thirsty stock.

African aros are great powerful jumper my 25inches jumps occasionally too, moving my 10mm glass cover a very strong fish landed on the floor . I have save it 3 times already now i put 2 bricks on the glass to prevent the glass cover from moving problem solve for now.
