Finally my other 13" Pbass accepts non live. I trained him to take full lake smelts and market shrimps. My technique was using this plastic rod with a claw at the end that u can purchase from either the dollar store or a petshop. Then wave the food in front of your pbass and it'll think it's alive then snap he'll eventually take it. It took me a long time of starvation to do this but I think the training can be done in a shorter period of time. I had this rod for a while and I used it for feeding my tigrinis. I just never thought of using it for my Pbass til now. Now I can rest in relief as both my Pbass's are finally eating:grinno:.

I tell u this is one of the best investments for training your fish to take non live foods. I also use it to feed my Gator Gar. Cost u 10 bux and in the long run will save u alot of money from buying feeders. Give it a try and be patient as they will eventually accept it.

Ya 1 out of my 2 large Pbass's accepts Hikari pellets as well. I got this one off live food within 2 weeks. Just the 1st one wouldn't take anything but live until I used the rod technique. Also ya Gars are very delicate type of fish as Pbass's are known to steal food away from them and this rod helps them get the right amount of food. Using this rod can be a pain but it's fun feeding them this way as it puts on a show:D

I starved mine for 1.5 months and the Pbass was still strong always looking for food. I've heard stories of them surviving more then 3 months without food. I would assume they can survive longer since in the Amazon the dry season lasts a long time which they hibernate without food.

Most likely can find one for cheap at the dollar store. I bought mine from a LFS but they weren't cheap. Paid about 20 bux for mine.
