In 01, moved from our house with 8 tanks to one that wouldn't even fit one. Finally moved again in Sept and just bought a used 125 and stand. Gonna stay with that and look for a 90 to keep Tropheus in. No more collecting tanks.(right!!!)
When I got out, was using a large Fluval, HOB, and a high flow powerhead in the larger tanks for filtration. Bought a Wet/Dry but was too noisy and scrapped it. The 125 had 400 lbs of lace rock sitting on a play sand bed. Water out of the tap is above 8.0 and very hard. Crushed coral ugly after a year or so and difficult to clean the algae out of below the bed level. I know just from occaisionally following stuff online that the hobby has changed, is this still suitable or are there better(and affordable) alternatives out there?
Don't need advice on stocking as I do only Tangs and I know behaviour and habitat have not changed. Will look for(in the 125) N. buescheri, A calvus. J regani, J transcriptus, N maranguensis, some Shellies, and one of the sand nest builders.
Loved Texas holy rock(limestone), but could have trouble finding it here. Any thoughts on anything else that might be suitable?
I've had Tropheus breed, but have also killed my share because of ignorance of their diet. Thus the 90. Have never had a T. only tank, what else do you guys stock yours with who's diets are similar and will act as interst and dither?
