Got a fish from a friend as his jaguar pair was getting into a bit of fisty cuffs with it.

Came to me with a split pectoral fin and what looked like bite marks on its hump and a mark on its lip. All healed up within a week.

I was told it was a doviI.

Just want to confirm ito a dovii as it does look different to all the ones I've seen on the Internet going by the marks on it but it does look like one.

I am about 99% it's a female. It's just over 6 inches. It has its teeth visible.

although I can't ID it, I can say with some certainty it is definitely NOT a Dovii. Looks like some type of Amph hybrid to me? Barred midas perhaps? However definitely not a Dovii. I'm sure there are more educated then I that can properly help you ID this guy.

100% not Dovii, nor is it a pure bred of any Parachromis species the body shape isn't correct. My guess would be a Chancho, Amarillo, or Flaveolus cichlid. I'm not good enough to ID the amphilophus species.

Cheers. Think I have to agree with you after having a look at the piccys.

My friend got this fish being told it was a dovii with his pair of jaguars.they started to fight Which is how I came to have the fish as a temp means before any fish got killed as I happened to have a freshly cycled tank due to intending to get a tiger oscar.

Thanks for your help guys as I can at least tell which family this fish is from now so when it moves on from me the new owners will have an idea.
