Ok heres a dopey question.

I have 2 125 g tanks with the built in overflow boxes.I plan on using them for growout tanks for mbuna, angels and bn plecos.

The question is do smaller fish get swept into the overflow box?

Im thinking of constructing some kind of cover/strainer for the top of the box cause it just seems to me its gonna end up full of fish.

simple thing you could do is use screen, maybe not as small as window screen but probably nothing over 1/4" squares. Really just get some screen relative to the size of fish in the tank.

You could go as fine as you want with the screen, the only problem would be it clogging up with crap. I would only go as small as you need to keep the fish out.

ive never had a fish get sucked in my aga over flow ghost shrimps are a different story

I have had small fish that were hurt or once they died get stuck in over flows, pain in the butt to get out, but it all depends on the flow rate, size of fish, and how the overflow is made. I don't have an overflow so I wouldn't know.
