I currently have a 55 gallon tank sitting on top of the basic AGA metal stand. Dimensions of the stand are 48 x 13", and it looks like this:
I've been wanting to put another tank on the bottom, and was told that the largest that can fit down there would be a 40G breeder (48X12X12). So I went out and bought me one.
While trying to put it inside the stand, we ran into a problem: Because of all 4legs being angled (see the picture above), it is impossible to slide the tank in. Instead, you have to put it in at an angle. This set up however is located in a narrow hallway that makes manuevering a 4 foot long tank just about impossible.
I am now considering a plan B, which would consist of emptying and taking down the 55 that sits on the upper level, pulling the stand into the livingroom, placing the 40 on the bottom shelf, moving the whole thing back into the hallway, and finally resetting the 55 on top. Needless to say, if for some reason it turns out that 40 gallon tank can not be accomidated into the bottom of this stand, I will be one very pissed off dude. What makes this matter even worst is that when I started researching my options, I have failed to locate any conclusive evidence that says that this stand can accomidate a 48" long tank on the bottom (I know, should've done my research before hand
)
Since I already have the tank, and need to make it work somehow, I would consider purchasing this stand to replace the one I have:
As you can see, this design allows for a tank of the same lenght as the top one to be slid into the bottom. I, however, would very much like to avoid spending $100 this stand will cost me. Do you think I can make this work without having to replace the current stand? Please help!
