Aggresive Pond Plant Identification?

Anyone know what this is, I found it growing in a natural pond about a quarter mile from my house. The natural pond is due to be drained in a few months to make room for homes and almost 100% covered by this viney plant. Anyone know what it is, it is very aggresive.

You may wish to consider that in Texas you can be fined up to $2000 for possesing this plant, it is considered an invasive noxious weed in that state. http://www.ntwgs.org/articles/illegalAquatics.html

no it wont destroy your pond, it just grows like crazy. in the summer, you literally have to trim it back every other day so it wont cover the surface!

i just looked on the site, and it doesnt say that that plant is illegal, it says that a similar plant is illegal

If this stuff is a fast grower, then would the stuff do well in a tank?!?!?

yes it will do well but you will have to keep up on trimmings every week
