Aggresivness.

Hi guys,
Do any of you have problems with Aligator Gars being very aggresive?
Im only asking as the other morrning I awoke with my Clown Knifefish in half and my gar with a full belly!
Not sure why this happened, both fish about the same size (CKF about 1-2 inch smaller than the Gar) and both well fed.
Have also noticed that my Gar has also been niping (understatement) at my Plec and my Giraffe Catfish .
Any ideas guys????

Alligators are agressive. The only fish mine don't harass is the other Gator in there with them...

Gator gars are never very trustworthy with tankmates..Sometimes it works other times not at all. IME next to the Hybrid Gator X Shortnose, the Gator is the most 'aggressive' of the pack.

i agree with polypterus and have generally had the same experiences. gators are in a category all their own in terms of gar aggressiveness. they'll randomly attack just about any other fish, often times even if they are well fed--

i have 2 gator gars in my big tank. they don't punk anyone but they do punk the larger florida gars i have when theres food in their mouth. they tried to punk my lap for food but my lap fought back. they are punks and do not trust them with fish smaller then them.
