I have two red bellys in a 29 gal. they are about 4-5 inchs one is a pig and the other is thin, the thin one is real aggessive and the fat one is passive till theres food in the tank. Any one elses red bellys like this?

your not supposed to keep two 5 inch pygocentrus natteri in a 29 gallon tank and the fact you have 2 just makes it alot worse, they are a shoaling species and if one is left alone with another there will be no one else in the tank to pick on, you should consider these things and do a little more research before you go and plop 2 five inch nats together in a 29 of all tanks. now im understanding why you have so many fish in your r.i.p memory thing at the bottom of your signature, sorry to be so harsh but its like you did no research on this species whatsoever before purchasing it. thats all sorry if i seem like im being mean but im serious dude. and you wonder why one is fat and one is skinny??

Um well all my fish in my rip, exept the asain red tail, died from the same disease at the same time and i was reseaching as fast as i could but to no avail it started out looking like ick then a day later there body started to deteriate it was bad. The asain died because he was dumb and sat under the heater and burnt his head severly and died a few hours later he was like 5 years old to. Also i did reseach piranhas before i got these and there going in a new tank in a few weeks. I couldnt house so many red bellys at the time and i would have had to get a new tank sooner and more would have required more food so i did the economic thing and bought two the only reason i got two is cuz i new they dont like to be by them selves.

:headbang2Tyler,
thanks for being concerned tho

asian* and if you were smart and if you really did your research you would have known you have to have at least four, and if you did your so called research you would have waited until you had the proper setup to accomidate the rbs, and not have been so impatient, dont say you did any research because is obvious to me that you reaLLy didnt, you say your catfish commited suicide? ich is treatable ( please bring your fish back where you got them until you do research and have the proper tank setup before you buy any ps)

asian red tail catfish Hemibagrus wyckioides has been known to grow past 38 inches it probably killed itself under the heater because it couldnt turn around in the tank you had it in, its a monster tank busting fish along with your pacu and oscar and longnose gar and channel cat, im 100% positive you didnt house any of your fish that died in the proper setup do to....here it comes folks LACK OF RESEARCH. ta da

sorry if it seems like im being mean im just trying to inform him properly so he doesnt kill anymore fish

yes but my asian stayed small for some reason i had him for at least there years "dont now where i got the 5 from earlyer" and he was 7-9 inchs he liked sitting next to the heater one day he got a big white burn mark on his head and a few hours later he was dead. For the others it started like ick little white dots showed up 1 day. one day there good next day they were there and i watch my fish and examin them constatly. well i pLanned on getting ick treatment the next day after school, only to come home from school to see all my fish dead but the oscar, still went to store got medicine and treated the tank for the oscar well after a few days he started rotting like a salmon then died.

Also my rbp could live in the 29 all there lives, but i sure wouldnt advise it and dont plan on it, one of are local fishing stores has 2 rbp in a 29gal and there a good 9-10 inchs each and can hardly move around the tank. i got my red belly piranhas when they were 1.5 inchs from a lfs knowing very well that i would get them a bigger tank when the time came.

allso for hours i sit hear and research and when im not on the computer im watching them in my tank and when im not there im trying to catch them in the wild.

Fishkeeping is like fishing its trial and error and you have to try in order to learn. a few lost fish only prepares you for the future.
