As some of you may know I have recently obtained a Golden Jaguar. The guy that sold me the tank said the fish had to go with it. So I didn't argue. For the last day or so he hasn't been hungry, but today he was. I got him some cichlid pellets and also some feeder fish. I thought it would be kind of cool to hand feed him a goldfish. He came to the top of the water and absolutely exploded on this thing and almost took my finger with it. the guy showed me a video of people putting their fingers in his tank and this fish biting them and causing them to bleed. I was just wondering if anyones Jag is as aggressive of this.

Just remember not to feed feeders very often. In fact, unless you have to, I would try to avoid them altogether.

Depends on the Jag. Mine get lazy if I feed just pellets. As soon as I start feeding live food such as crickets, tadpoles, frogs, moths or earthworms.......they become more aggressive.

And yes they will bite you!!!!

Feeding them feeder fish is just begging for trouble. Store bought feeder fish are dirty, filthy, disease carriers.

Isn't that the truth! Not to mention that they are extremly fatty! Bugs will usually get the same reaction!

Alright so stick to the pellets. Thanks. Although he still hit those pretty hard at the surface but I think this is just because he was hungry and hadn't eaten for a couple of days. I hope he calms down a bit. He should when I put him in the 150g...

My oscar is like that. I pretend to open the lid, to fake him out, then I throw in the pellets. He almost got me a few times. A jag bite would be a lot worse.

This may be somthing to think about, years ago I noticed while bass fishing most of the time they would suck in a plastic worm but smack the hell out of a jig and explode onto a topwater plug. I beleave fish use the force they feel required to subdue what ever they are after. My fish will blow up on anything floating on the surface, suck in a worm and blast shrimp or krill. This is just my observation. Any body else ever notice this?

My finger when I've had my hand in the tank.
