I currently have a 1/2 dollar sized severum, a 1.5 inch blue acara, a quarter-sized angel fish, and 8 juvie rainbowfish together in a 46G bowfront tank. The severum is going after the acara- lip locking, batting him with his tail and biting at him. The acara doesn't seem to want to back down from the sev, but he looks outmatched to me. The sev has sought him out a few times, but the acara also seems to go looking for trouble?

Should I let this sort itself out, should I separate the fish, should I add a target or another cichlid to share the sev's aggression with acara? (The angel is keeping quiet and staying out of the way.)

The fish will be moving to a 75G in 2 weeks. I am getting new carpet installed and can't set up the bigger tank afterward.

are yo posetive its a sev it could be a convict which kinda look like them at the size, the only reason i say that is because sevs are usually very docile, but if it is just add more caves, and they will eventually stop they are just deciding dominence.

Things are going much better today- the acara seems to have accepted being subordinate to the severum. I'm pretty sure it is a severum, but I'll keep an eye on it. I think that the acara stayed hidden for the first couple of days and then yesterday, it started being a lot more active and visible.
