hi, i have a male motoro who seems to be intolerant of other females in tank the process is usual for breeding but he really over reacts and swings around on the females with some heavy marks!

any ideas or similar incidents?

thanks

no one then at all?

How do you sex them? I thought they were super hard to breed. are they???

male motoro`s canb become a problem as they become bigger. if he is biting the females and attacking them then the only real option is his own tank.

dividing the tank will help for now but he may return to this the the divider is removed.
if you dont do something it could get worse, the female may attack the male back or the male may kill the female if he gets to rough.

male rays have claspers (tube like organs x2) under the pelvic fins and females dont that the noticeable difference
they are not hard to breed just u have to adequately be able to house a group or pair with the addition of grow out tanks and other area`s if trouble arrives!!

Cool. Thanks.

he`s not huge he only about 12" but this is the 2nd female so he now on his own as he shredded the first after mating several times but just didn`t stop which unfortunately ended up loosing her. i`ve had all spectrum of weird males but he has stumped me just so aggresive it like he is swinging on her!!

ive hurd of a few males like that, they have all been motoro.

ide honestly keep him on his own, if you want to breed off him ide keep them seperate till its time, then once its done seperate them again.

you will end up loosing another female if you dont.

yeah my thoughts as well! shame as he good sturdy fish and is great with other tank mates when he with them just seems to be just the girls?? o well bachelor pad it is then! lol or maybe he is 1 of the few homosexual motoro`s out there? lol
