I have a planted tank with 2 severums about 6-7 in. My super red is being very aggressive and chasing around all the other tank mates to the point that something needs to be done about it. I have another tank with a couple 3-4 in Festae, 3.5 in jag, and a 4 in Texas. If I were to move the aggressive severum to this tank would my fish be OK? I am way more attached to the jag and festaes in this tank so I want to make sure they will be OK. I understand nothing is certain but wanted to get your opinions. Thanks

Bad idea for the severum

I have a bully of a severum - male, approximately 9", that I kept in a 180 with hogaboomorum, a jd, a centrarchus pair, and some grow out black belts. I sold the hogs, but the biggest was about the same size as the sev but I had no issues. I've never kept festae or jags so I can't speak to them, but the sev was the boss of the tank.

Won't know until you try it. Just do it when you have time to monitor the tank for a little while. With that much of a size advantage though, the sev might beat up on the aggressive fish, too, at least for a while.

I keep severum with aggresive cichlids, they never seem to get bothered, but I will give them their own tank if they start to have problems. Maybe it is their body shape or attitude that does not draw aggresion from my other fish.

Its always worth a try, aslong as you remove the sev before it becomes severly mauled if the texas, festae and jag go for the severum.
