So I recently built a DIY 55 gallon drum filter for my 2200 gallon pond with about 20 4-6" feeders and a few natives. It seemed like right after the filter was set up, I noticed some odd behavior with my goldfish. A group of 7-8 of them were chasing one around at damn near full speed for hours on end. At first I thought it was nothing but the next morning they were still chasing the fish around and the fish looked like it had been beat up pretty bad. Tons of missing scales, missing skin in the mouth, and it's eyes were beat up as well.......the fish just looked like **** so I took it out and put it in a tank inside to monitor it. He got worse the next day and I just found him dead in my hospital tank with a crazy fungus growing around him.....I need to know what's going on
My question, is this aggression by my goldfish a sign that one is sick or are they just bullying it to the point where it almost dies? They are doing it to another goldfish of mine(a beautiful wild-colored one that's about 6") and it's really pissing me off. My gf put some pond cleaner stuff in the pond as well. Could this be the problem? I really need to figure this out before I start adding more expensive fish.
Any help with this would be much appreciated thanks
