Aggressive

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Why does it matter? I dont think you should get a fish just because its agressive, but if thats what you like, so be it. Personally, I like fish for color, body shape, feeding habits, etc, not just because its agressive.

I'd imagine maybe a big male Cincta or Lenticulata - really depends on their environment & - believe it or not - that fishes 'attitude' .... . . . . !!!!! I think fish have their own personalities, aggression is a measure of reaction to what is around, violence is something else. Most often big Pikes will rule their environ because of their quick flexible response to other fish's posturing, and refusal to be dominated. More often we've experienced a 'live & let live' attitude from aggessive Pikes in a community tank.

Cincta are my favorite pike! So awesome. Escpecially the one on my avatar if you can see it very well, loves its colors. Getting a cincta pretty soon, cannot wait!

Of all the pikes I've ever had I'd say that none of them have been aggressive just for the sake of being aggressive. All have been territorial. All have been willing to chase other fish out of their territory. Given the proper circumstances most pikes seem to be well behaved.

The one exception might have been a large male jegui that I had. He was just being territorial but he considred the entire bottom of the 125 his territory.

Well put Mark and Jon! I was just gettin ready to talk about jegui actually...lol. Seems your not the only one who has had troubles with them...lol. Generally, its the larger, Lugubris group pikes that have the 'meaner' tude. Given space and a way for the other fish to get away or for the pike to, there aren't really that many problems.

NOW, there are some fish that pikes just don't like, and it all depends on the pikes 'personality'. It might be aight with one pike, but the next time might absolutely terrorize that same fish.
