So I have a chocolate male (9") and female (7"), and a 7" male geo surinamensis in a 75g tank to themselves right now. I have had them all together for about 5 months now and nothing, just seem to have no care for eachother. The chocolates use to hang around eachother, but not anymore. Just recently, the female started becomming super aggressive, and has the other 2 all nipped up, and hanging on the other side of the tank - but no egg laying or anything. Is there any hope for the 2 chocolates, they hard to breed? I like the 2 males, and only got her for him..... Anyone have experience with breeding this species? I'm wondering if they can eventually breed in the future, or if it means they just don't "click." Thanks

i have a small chocolate cichlid they r sooo cool. do u have a pic of yours?

it may be that she is in breeding mode, but the male is not . . . you could try dividing the tank for a period, giving the female about 40% of the tank and the two males about 60% (give or take) and see if things settle down

I have heard that they are not easy to breed, but I don't know first-hand . . .
