is there a way to calm down an agressive 12 inch oscar? Ive been having problems finding a tank mate with it.

If it's in a big enough tank and you know it's aggressive....maybe try a JAGUAR!! :D

What kinda fish is it picking on?

Agreed, Tank size could be a problem.. How big is it.

Probably wont be able to if hes ebstablished the tank as his territory he'll fight everything
sometimes if the tank is large enough 100g + you can remove the deco and add something new providing coverage for him to hide behind and add a suitable tank mate ,maybe he'll accept it as he gets used to the tank again

:iagree: with the above. once a fish hits maturity (~6" for an oscar) it can be very difficult to get them to accept new tankmates. tank size will play the biggest factor though. the tank will have to be rather large (125 or more imo) to be able to get this to work. if your tank isn't that big, you could upgrade to a larger tank. set the tank up entirely different than the tank your oscar is currently in and add the oscar as well as whatever tankmates you wish to keep with it at the same time and keep a close eye on them for a while.

hes 12 inches and I have a 150g with silver arrowana only. he fought my arrowana and my silver got injured and lost eight scales behind its gills.

If my Oscar did that he would be going in with about a dozen 6 inch red bellies ;) . Like they said rearrange the tank this will trick him into thinking he is out of his territory and he might give another fish a chance to defend it self

I've heard of Oscars going after Arowanas before.

Yours is a 150 which would have room....wanna try your luck with a more aggressive species? :naughty:
