one of my tanks(100g) is infested with bugs. they are super tiny, the size of a pinhole, and are on the water surface, floating in the water, and crawling around on the sides of the tank. they are also pretty quick, can go about an inch per second, which is fast for their size. they have been in the tank for a month or so, so they arent a threat to the fish i dont think, which by the way is a dovii and fahaka(seperated by a divider). i thought they were just particles in the water till i saw them crawling around this morning.

how can i get rid of em? maybe dose with salt? and how much salt is safe for a fahaka? any other cures?

They are likely Springtails. These are harmless primitive insects. I think they get introduced with aquatic plants especially duckweed. They stay on the surface and eat the biofilm. Water agitation will stop these critters.

ok guys they are EVERYWHERE in the tank and can clearly last underwater. there are thousands of em. theres alot of surface agitation and there is a corner overflow to a W/D and i cant get rid of em.

try doing a big water change. maybe that will work.

Sign for major water change....DO a 50% tonight, or tomorrow....Scrub the inside windows before siphoning....EVery other day do a 25% water change after wiping down the inside windows....

will do. i havent been doin many w/c's on this tank because the nitrates dont build up for like a month cause its so lightly stocked(5" fahaka and just added the 7"dovii last weekend). i suppose that gave alot of time for them damn bugs to move in and make a home. and im guessing the bugs came from the lfs. i bought some danios that were in a planted tank from there.
