So I've been eyein up this beautiful little silver aro that my LFS has. They've had him for about 3 weeks now and he's really starting to become comfortable in the tank. At first he was very shy and thin but now he's swimmin all over the place and starting to get some nice color in. He's got nice straight barbells and some good fins. Well I couldn't take it anymore! I put a deposit on him and I'm picking him up on Tuesday! I'm so excited hahah
Can't wait to finally have an Aro. I'm gonna put him in my 30 Gallon to start him out.
Now to get in preperation I just want to know what are some good foods to buy for this little guy and what type of decoration I should use for the tank. It's just going to be him in there solo. I can't wait to pick him up!:headbang2

Enjoy it..and yes, crickets are magnificent food for aro's.

I give mine hikari food stick (crumbled by finger or broken into pieces), FD shrimp, FD brine shrimp, FD bloodworms, Small crickets gut loaded with carrots and flake food and small pieces of FD krill. Anyhow, good luck...keep the water param's prestine, and dont over feed and your fish should be happy!:D

How do you guys like to keep your tanks setup for these guys since they're mostly top swimmers? I'm dyin to pick this guy up!

with the most possible space...one or 2 stones and pieces of wood in the bottom....than emply space....

mine loves everything listed above. still working on the hikari sticks...he tends to eat them and then spit them out. crickets gut loaded w/ carrots are great. also make sure you break the food up and feed small crickets so you can avoid any blockages. great fish to keep. i have a lilly im my aros tank and he loves swimming between the plants. try to avoid anything hard so he doesnt hurt himself on it..because as babys they are very skittish. again great fish to keep and good luck.

ps. as always we will want to see some pics of this fish when he gets settled in!

I'll definitely make sure to take some pictures. I just found a KILLER deal on 200 Bowfront so he might have a bigger home sooner than I thought!!!

the more room the better. you might as well start planning for a very large tank now. once they start growing they dont stop!
