I'm looking to get one more aquarium going and I'm considering on getting a wolf. As for aimaras what would you guys consider a good tank size and what's the average size these guys grow in captivity?

Reactions: Red Aimara
My ex Aimara; got him at around 10 inches and sold off around 17 inches.

He was kept in a 6 x 3 x 3 tank partitioned in the middle. For the 2-3 years I kept him, fed with mixed diet mostly live feeders, market prawns and bullfrogs. I felt the market prawns helped pumped his size the most during this period.

Post note: regretted selling him off but was downsizing my hobby that time and being Aimara, it was either him or the rest of the fishes.

I don't think there's anyone who's kept them long enough in aqauriums to know max size. But easily will hit atleast 2.5-3feet for sure but will they reach the 4-5feet size and over 80lbs. I'd say tank size to reach the atleast 3 feet and bigger will need 600 gallon and up. That'll take some time to grow.

Vincentwugwg has an Aimara in a 15ft long and 4 ft wide tank and its 26+ inches.

He just recently put it in though, so maybe the growth will pick up some?
On another not, I agree with you on everything

Probably a 240 but another suggestion would be those outdoor buildable kiddie pools (cover needed). They are bigger and cheaper if space available. I think an Aimara will get to 2 ft fast and easy.
