ok, here are some more questions, I am getting this fish very soon, thus I am worry on how to setup the tank properly and safely. Do you think that aimara would ever bites off the cable of the power head and heater inside the tank? truely, I dont wanna end up with aimara soup in my tank. What kind of filter are you guys using for keeping this beast? what type of filter that works better for safety issue? pls share you thought..
cheers

dont think it will attack the cables if its stationary, it only attack moving objects and at close range

I wouldn't worry about the equipment. I haven't as already said they tend to go for moving objects. I am using FX5's with both of my aimara.

I have found that powerheads do seem to increase the activity of my aimara, I am currently remodeling there tanks to try to reflect the flooded forest they sometimes live in.

Ok thanks all for the answer, I will post pics as soon as I get the beast in my tank.
Cheers

I always keep any electrical apparatus on a gfci. My aimara has never bitten through any cables however my large black pacu have gone through several cords and without a gfci, not only would I have been doing the electric jig,but I would have lost some great fish as well. You can buy extension cords with a gfci if you don't have them mounted on the wall. With big fish take all the precautions you can. Things happen! On my big tanks I run a sleeve of pvc pipe around the electrical cords to act as a shield. I hope this helps. Be very caefull arounf electricity and h2o. Good luck

thanks for the advice, I don't know how to explain it, but in the house we do have safety on the electrical panels boards, so whenever there is an electrical failure, the switch will cut off the electricity in the house.
