Maybe spoiled… or not thawed properly… the correct way is to thaw in a bowl of water in the fridge overnight… in a pinch u can thaw in just a bowl of cold water for a few hrs. IME thawing in tank water or warm water can spoil the frozen foods.

Really interesting to know that. I might have to change some things.

when in doubt… use the same methods as “preparing” foods for human consumption ??. If ud eat it, then offer it lol… says right on the frozen fish/foods bags how to thaw it. Sure fish are scavengers and can/will eat dead/rotting meats but doing that every feeding can be detrimental. Fish r pretty smart tho, theyll refuse spoiled food if there not starving.

I mean most of the time I do use cold water to thaw, but there is the occasional time where time is sensitive so I rush it with warm or tank water. I’m glad to know I have been doing the right thing by accident, most of the time.

My curupira did that also when I first introduced frozen. Give it a couple days should stop. My assumption was it was simply adjusting to new food. Similar to me eating a big plate of nachos, doesn't sit well sometimes haha.

Thanks guys! Yeah i thaw it overnight sitting in vitachem. Mybe the pieces are too big.. anyways i fed it a smaller piece tonight.. othewise ill just feed live ( i QT my own feeders for 1 week then fatten them up 1 week before feeding-> cichlids)
