I really want to do a wolf with my jardini. I have a feeling i know the answer. You guys think i could pull off a aimara with my jardini or will i have to go black wolf route? This jardini is a murderer. Nothing can live with him. Wolf is my last chance.

Probably suggest a black wolf. Need lots of space for aimara. Not sure i remember what tank you have. But larger fish is the key and has been communed with said fish prior.

Despite that sometimes a Jardini or any predatory fish is too aggressive and won't allow for any tankmates.

Agree. Black wolf is your best bet, if you had an 8x4 I'd say aimara.

I have a 7x3 but its in garage still. You think aimara, would kill the jardini?

It would depend on the two specimens, I think either wolf is more capable of hurting the aro than the jar hurting them. And if the jar is aggressive he may provoke the wolf. He could then either learn his lesson and you may have somewhat of a peace, or end up with a dead fish, whichever way the fight goes. I'd still say go curu even with the larger tank, so you can keep both for life, where as with an aimara, some years down the road you may need an upgrade.

You need to be prepared to lose either one, and my money would be on the aimara. It has the jaws and teeth to do serious damage to the arrowana regardless of which provokes. I have only ever really heard of dorado hurting aimara and that was due to their speed.

Also, I have never owned arrowana but I thought I read somewhere that you need to be careful of aggressive bottom dwellers. That if the arrowana is constantly looking down it can lead to drop eye which is very common with that fish.

I agree with the above. You should go with a black wolf. What size is your Jardini? S Skyeboy

Jardini don't get DE, I'm sure there's a case but it's very rare. So I wouldn't consider DE. I like the way JL said it once, aimara are defensive. Jars swim through the water columns, and is more likely to provoke the aimara imo, but as you said it doesn't matter who starts it, the aimara has an advantage.

To the OP if you are set on this, it shouldn't be just the two, should get some dithers. Large barbs or SD are commonly used.

Jardini is solid 10-11" and is the, meanest one ive had or seen. The aimara is 9-10". I was also considering dithers
