what fish will typically eat the dreaded aiptasia? although they dont really bother me i can see how a few will easily turn to hundreds and i dont want to fight them myself.

Hey dude, I'm on the same boat lol

Check this out.. www.saltyunderground.com has info on a nudibranch they sell that eat only aiptasi anemones...I would purchase them but it say's I would need at least 6...which will be about a $100 on something that will not last very long after the invvasion.

peppermint shrimp will have them cleaned up in a few days and don't most species of butterfly's eat aiptasia?

Ok, here is the problem, fish that eat aiptasia generally only eat them to a stump, so they never actually get rid of them... they just shorten them. LOL so they look gone... but will come back slowly. Peppermints are another option... but from what I've seen only a handful of them will actually go for aiptasia. Now as far as i know, Berghia Nudibranchs are the only ones that actually remove them completely (from what I have seen) from the tank, sadly they only eat Aiptasia so they will die unless you have an almost unstopable amount of aiptasia, or only get a few Berghia to control rather then exterminate the aiptasia (which in my books is fine, they are only a problem when there is plauge numbers of them). That also said, I actaully culture Aiptasia in a tank for the purpose of feeding my Berghia (in their "storage" tank not my DT lol because they are kinda pretty in my books), as well as for a butterfly fish that my friend has that is a super picky eater.

+1 for berghia...plus there is no headache trying to remove the animal that eats your nuisance after it switches over to your corals and other valued inverts. The berghia to my knowledge only target the nems...I know a guy that is culturing and selling on R2R.

Buy or build an zapper aiptasia! That is the only 100% way to rid a tank of them besides taking it down.

Please elaborate?

The only aptasia wands I have seen do not look like the way to go...that being said...I have no experience with them, just what I have seen in videos and heard others say in online forums.
