My fx5 has been running for a couple months without issue. The other night it woke me up to a churning noise. The filter is spitting out a lot of air bubbles and can't seem to purge itself of air or the churning noise. I can't seem to help the filter. I have taken the filter apart and have given it time and it is still doing this. Any suggestions?

Im no expert on filters, but mechaniclly speaking when a closed unit is sucking air the problem is often at the hoses and where they connect instead inside the filter itself. Just a thought.

Exact same thing happened to me a few weeks ago. I would purge the air but within a few minutes it was blowing bubbles again. I found a pin sized hole in the intake tube. Turned it off and drained the the hose, sealed it with silicone and that was it. Kinda hard to find the hole though. I ended up blowing into the hose and listening for it

Another possibility is: if your hoses double back on themselves (downwards) this can cause a bubble in the hose. This happened to me and i tried both taking it to pieces and searching for holes. Then i realised there wasn't a direct route to the tank. Just a thought.
