I know that you're not supposed to let eggs get exposed to air, but I was wondering at what point it is safe (or just not lethal) to expose fry to the air for moving them into a different tank or breeder box.

I'd wait until they are maybe a month old. What species are you thinking of?

My heroine pair laid some eggs about a week ago and I wanted to keep the wigglers safe in a breeder net since the pair share a tank with other fish.

i am afraid of hurting them with the pyton i just take the net cacth all i can at a time and at the same time have a little bucket inside the aquarium, where i place the net with the fry and take em out wiouth exposing to air.

I make a syphon out of an air tube. The regular air tubing for air pumps.
Just put an end of it in water and gently suck the air out of it with a syringe.
Quite easy but a bit time consuming.
