air filter for bio filtration?

so the other day i changed the air filter in my wrecker. i was throwing it out i thought hey this looks like a giant bio wheel. ok so heres the question could i use a new one as a bio wheel in a sump. mine are about 2 foot long and a foot across but bigger trucks have some twice that size.

Depending on the material, they might just fall apart. The ones with the metal cage around them would rust. Run a garden hose over your old one for a while and see if it falls apart.

That would be awesome looking! Like you really mean business. Hose it down for a trial run.

my main concern would be if there is toxic chemicals. alot of newer ones are cageless or have a plastic version of the mesh so that would work. would it really add substantial bio?
