air pump for hoplias?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Depends on the size in my opinion. For smaller fish I have found that an air pump promotes activity just because if the current it creates. However with larger fish you will probably need a powerhead to create enough current to increase activity.

it wont be stressful, but they definitely wont be in the current all the time.
they dont NEED current,it really is up to you.

i know wolves are hardy and can withstand a range of water quality levels,
but providing more oxygen wouldn't matter?

maybe it won't attempt to jump as much?

what do you y'all think?

ive kept hoplias in many different set ups.
whether i had more current or what not, they all grew around the same rate.
never had jumping problems,so i have no clue.

thanks for your help,

i have to lower the water when it comes in.. i only have marineland lids at the moment (they're super light, and with a part missing), and i have finally found an all-glass brand online that would fit my tank but it's rather expensive so i have to wait out a bit to get them.

i can't wait to get this guy :nilly:

weigh down the lid. and be careful, glass might break depending on how thin it is or how big the fish is relative. also might knock inwards into tank so provide lateral cross braces. PLastic shop can cut you a piece. make it as thick as will fit together nicely.
