How much gph would I need to creat a solid airway in the middle of the tank? Where an air pump pumps so much bubbles into tank its nothing but air and forms an atmosphere inside the tank? Is this possible?

You can only try and dissolve as much co2 at the water surface and after that it's nothing.

an air pump doesn't literally inject o2 into the water column, only aids in gassing of co2

Hello; What is the goal?

I'm not talking about co2 at all. In fact I mentioned 'air pump'. I don't care about o2 or co2 levels I thought it would look cool 'aesthetically' like a solid pocket of atmosphere underwater.

From what im gathering... I don't think it would be possible/plausible. If they made such an air pump it would create a situation where water would shoot up out of your tank at a rediculous rate. Which would make your whole tank a solid pocket of atmosphere without water.

Hello; An air curtain for looks? You will need some sort of cover to catch the spray from the waters surface to keep everything from being soaked and reduce evaporation/spray loss. Not sure that you can get more than a lot of bubbles. Perhaps very dense bubbles but not likely a single large air pocket. That said I have never tried for such an effect. I have run some pretty stout bubblers but always got bubbles.

some form of interior tank would be your only chance
