my little Top Fin 3000, with 2 air-line holes, just stopped pumping on just one side. I wasn't using both, so just switched the line to the other.
Never had this happen before. does that mean the whole pump is gonna die soon? Equipment is pricier at my LFS, but I really need the air on this tank & have no extra, unused pumps if it dies.

might not quit on you , sometimes just 1 side quits

It's running hotter than others. probably a bad sign.
doesn't have much age on it, either! but I better go get one today, just to be safe. otherwise I'd have to move a whole tank over near another one for aeration from that ones' pump. Grrrr.

I have my tanks spread all out around the main living area of my house...husband said "I'm surrounded. everywhere I walk in here, eyes are following me. fish swarm to the front, looking for food.."
LOL.

LOL, well it's not getting any mechanical work from me.
guess I better go get ripped off locally, eh? darnit.

why not?
unplug it.
remove the 4-6 phillips screws holding it together.
remove the torn diaphragm by pulling on it.
replace with new diaphragm by pushing on it.
screw it back together.
plug it back in.
I wouldn't be surprised if your LFS sells the diaphragms for $1 or so.

oops, if it's hot, you should probably just replace it.

took it apart. diaphram is torn. nothing like that for sale in this town.

the LFS/PS was closed a couple hrs early! lots of early hrs this year, but not usually by that much- & not on saturdays.?

ah well, if it dies before monday I'll move the small tank near big one.
