air pump

ok just bought a whisper air pump. it says that it is silent. but as i type right now i can hear a humming noise coming from it. is that normal? or should i take it back. dont want to hear that at night when i am sleeping.

air pumps give off that annoying hum, just enough to make you go insane. try and isolate it as much as possible with foam or padding (especially underneath) and keep it under the tank if possible

i have had it on for about an hour and its annoying. thanks for the info.

I suspended mine form a nail by a rubber band. That eliminates alot of the vibrations your hearing, and removes the base it rattles against.

When my 55 was set up my air pump was inside the stand, never heard anything except the bubble wands. I now have the air pump in my 18hex and it sites outside. I still only hear the air stone.

yeah theyre annoying no matter what-if it really annoys you just open the door of your house and throw it thru the neighbors window-thats bound to quiet it down.....or at least you wont hear it from inside your house anymore
