well i was on here saying about 2 months ago that my airpod 100 pump was acting up. it had very little air pressure and then all the sudden all of the air pressure came back. well i got home lastnight and i had to air what so ever going to my sponge filter and my bubble wond. i woke up this morning and still nothing. i check all my lines and i had no kinks and i took the lines off the the pump and i had very little air coming from the pump. so i went to walmart and bought a cheapie air pump for know to get bye and it worked better then the more expencise air pod one. so what would be the problem with my old pump. i think i might send it back to the company to see if they can fix it because its only like 6 months old.

i'd say the diaphragm is/are shot, that doesn't explain why it would start back up, but the only problems i've ever had with air pumps was diaphragm related, its pretty easy to take those apart so i would just check to make sure the diaphragm isnt ripped or possibly just slipped off?

Diaphram air pump are real simple in how they work. All you have is a magnetic motor, a diaphram that sucks in air and pushes it out the line, and a valve assembly called a flapper. The motor causes the diaphram to push in and out and the flapper lets it get outside air and then closes to let the diaphram push the air into the line. -----------------------------------Alot of times the diaphram's dry out and tear and another common problem is that the flapper will become dirty and not seal. If it does not seal then the air gets pushed right back outside the pump and not thru the line.---------So take the back off the air pump and turn it on. If you see the diaphram moving back and forth rapidly then the motor is good. Then unplug it and remove the diaphram and inspect it for tears/rips/ or any damage that would cause a leak. The take the flapper valve out and clean them and the valve seat. If theres no damage then put it all back together clean. And you should be good to go. ----------------------------------There is only 3 things that usually go wrong. Damaged motor/ damaged diaphram/ damaged or dirty flapper valve.

ok weill i took the pump apart and the pump still does the same thing. it pushes out air put when i took it up to a airline to my sponge filter it does not do anything. here is a pic on the inside of the pump and i labeled what i did and what the parts are

YELLOW. THE FLAPPERS THEY MOVE WHEN I TURN THE PUMP ON
RED. THERE ARE BLACK RUBBER THINGS AND I TOOK THEM OFF AND I DID NOT SEE ANY DAMAGE AND THE I WIPED THE OFF.
BLUE. THESE HOLES ARE FOR THE ARE CONTROL VALUES ON THE OUT SIDE OF THE HOUSING
BLACK. MOTOR

Take that cheapie TopFin apart and you will be SHOCKED at how much they are the same. You'll never buy another over priced one again.

Keep a cheapie on hand for a spare (they are cheap enough that there is no reason not to). I keep several spares, and have only had to replace one in the last three or four years.

By the way, inspect the air pump body for cracks. You can use a Q-tip with soapy water to help locate them. With it turned on and with restriction in the output, put soapy water in all of the crevices in the pump body and around the diaphragms. Any leaks will be evidenced by bubbles.

ok my air lines are not pluged and i know that from the start of the problem. on the air pump there is a three year warranty on it so i will either send it back to the factory to get it fixed or i will buy a rebulid kit for it and do it my self. i am going to take it into my lfs and see what he says about it because i dont know all the parts of it.
