is it ok to leave my air pump runing for 14 hours is the day and turn it of at night but on again when i wake up, i know they surrvive i just mean for when they are adults will the external and powerhead be ok for oxegenating the water for 10 hours or so.

its just that piranha come from low oxegen waters and i am 90 percent sure it will be ok when they are fully gown but i want just a bit of advice from a piranha expert.

Im no expert on Ps but can tell you if you have adequate filtration/surface agitation you dont even need an air pump. The bubbles themselves do not "add" any measurable ammount of O2 to the water, it is the breaking of surface tension when the bubbles breach the waterline that allows for gas exchange. Id almost bet the powerhead alone would provide plenty of O2 to be absorbed into the water, assuming it is adequatly sized in relation to your tank.

I think that it's ok if you have your powerheads running. If not dont turn it off. Why would you want to turn it off and on though? is the tank by your bed or something? If so then you can always put a foam pad under the pump to quiet it up. but unless you have a noise concern just let it run.
